What is Postpartum Care?
Once your baby arrives we know that all thoughts turn to your new addition; however, your body went through some incredible changes throughout pregnancy and then again during childbirth, and even now your body is going through more changes post-delivery. So while we know you want to focus all of your attention on your baby, we also recommend focusing some of that attention on helping yourself heal and feel your best so you can fully enjoy the first few weeks of motherhood.
Postpartum care refers to the first six weeks after childbirth. This is a time when you get to connect and bond with your baby but it’s also a time of healing. Just like it’s important to have family and friends around to provide support and assistance, it’s also just as beneficial to have an OBGYN that you trust to provide you with regular post-delivery checkups, individualized and compassionate care, and support.
How We Help
Here at OC Women’s Care, we provide comprehensive OBGYN care for women at all stages of life. We are women providing care to women, so you know that we understand what you are going through and can provide you not just with tailored treatment and care but also guidance and advice throughout these postpartum weeks. We know being a new mom can be overwhelming, but we can work with you to make that transition into motherhood easier
From questions about breastfeeding to issues with “baby blues”, we provide answers, advice, and recommendations that are individualized to you. Many women experience postpartum depression after giving birth. In fact, it’s reported that about 70 to 80 percent of women will experience mood swings and depressive symptoms after delivery. This is due to all the hormonal changes, so while this is completely natural this doesn’t mean that it should go ignored, either.
Dr. Sedaghat and her team can provide you with what you need, from treatments and counseling referrals to finding strategies and ways to cope with these changes (whether mental, psychological, emotional or physical).
