Obstetrical Care

What Is Obstetrical Care?

Obstetrical care is a term used to describe the management of both normal and complicated pregnancy as well as the delivery and postpartum periods. Because pregnancy is one of the most important parts of a woman’s life, it is essential to have the proper medical care to have a healthy pregnancy.

During pregnancy, a woman should visit her doctor on a regular basis. These visits will involve physical examinations, blood tests and ultrasounds to monitor the growth and development of the baby. The doctor will also discuss options for the delivery process, working with the mother to ensure her pregnancy, labor, and delivery are as comfortable and stress-free as possible.

At OC Women’s Care, we provide quality obstetrical care to keep you and your baby healthy. Our experienced team, led by Dr. Sedaghat, helps each patient every step of the way with specialized care during pregnancy, labor, delivery and the postpartum period.

Most women experience a healthy and uncomplicated pregnancy. However, some women experience high-risk pregnancies which may have many causes, such as:

  • Pre-existing medical conditions
  • Advanced maternal age
  • Lifestyle choices
  • Multiple numbers of babies

At OC Women’s Care, our professional team looks at each situation to provide you with individual care for the healthiest pregnancy possible, whether it is a normal or complicated pregnancy.

How Should I Take Care Of Myself During Pregnancy?

To promote a healthy pregnancy it is important to take care of yourself. This includes eating a balanced diet and exercising regularly. Ideally, mothers should gain 20-35 pounds during their pregnancy, depending on their pre-pregnancy weight. You should also avoid smoking and drinking alcohol or using illegal drugs.
